Throughout the years, people have written me during the Advent season asking permission to perform my advent song, Lighting Candles. A few years ago, someone wrote and asked for the lyrics and guitar chords. This year I made sheet music with Sibelius for it as well. All of these are available for free. If you are interested in permission to perform this music, I hereby explicitly grant it to you.

I reserve some rights to this music, because I do not want someone to commercially record and sell this song without my permission. For non-profit use, and particularly for church worship, I want people to be free to use it if it would benefit them.

I realize that "Lighting Candles" has been around for some time now. Alas, I just found it doing a search for "advent song." Thank you for sharing it--and for giving us preachers permission to use it in worship. I am most probably using it as my Candle-lighting "theme song" for Advent 2008.
