Throughout the years, people have written me during the Advent season asking permission to perform my advent song,
Lighting Candles. Last year, someone wrote and asked for the
lyrics and guitar chords. If you are interested in permission to perform this music, I hereby explicitly grant it to you.
I reserve some writes to this music, because I do not want someone to commercially record and sell this song without my permission. For non-profit use, and particularly for church worship, I want people to be free to use it if it would benefit them.

I realize that "Lighting Candles" has been around for some time now. Alas, I just found it doing a search for "advent song." Thank you for sharing it--and for giving us preachers permission to use it in worship. I am most probably using it as my Candle-lighting "theme song" for Advent 2008.

Your music is beautiful and I thank you for that, but please please could you please explain to me why you and other Christians can support such a man as Obama? From day one he plans to legalize partial birth abortion. He was the only senator to vote against protecting a baby if he/she survives an abortion. He is for gay marriage and many other issues that our beloved Jesus has not intended for his people to embrace. I just don't understand and I will pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you in the right direction. You are a shepherd leading sheep, please feed them well. Thank you - God Bless
Terri, I appreciate your confusion and concern. I do not know your perspective specifically, but I understand that from your shoes Jesus would not wish you to support someone who does not want to fight to make abortion illegal. As to the other issues you cite, I think your sources have exaggerated his positions to be more appalling from a conservative perspective than they actually are. Abortion is not an issue that sways my vote. I do not have ready a rationale that would explain my positions to a Christian from a conservative political perspective.
Though it may be perplexing and foreign to you, it it exactly out of my earnest faith in Jesus Christ, my study and trust in the authority of scripture that I support Barrack Obama for president. I believe he reflects Jesus' heart for those whose treatment will separate the sheep from the goats, the naked, the hungry and imprisoned. Though he is not a conservative, I believe he will be able to foster an atmosphere of constructive dialogue that 70% of the country will be happy to participate in. I believe he could be the most significant president of my generation.
